Weather to improve from Monday; left parties reschedule protest program due to rainfall

KATHMANDU: Almost all parts of the country witnessed winter rains, combined with snowfalls in some areas on Saturday. The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) recorded 7.8 mm rain — highest of this year´s winter — in the Kathmandu valley. Following the winter rainfall the maximum temperature declined sharply in the Kathmandu valley on Saturday.

According to MFD, most parts of the country, including the Kathmandu valley, are likely to receive rainfall even on Sunday as well. The Division informed that the weather will be sunny in some parts, causing maximum temperature to go up significantly from Monday.

The four left parties, who have announced protest program against the decision for forming the election government led by Chief Justice, have rescheduled their protest program to Sunday due to rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley on Saturday.

The Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist, Matrika Yadav-led CPN (Maoist)‚ CPN-Unified‚ and Mani Thapa-led Revolutionary Communist Party-Nepal had announced to launch a rally at Shanti Batika to oppose the major parties’ bid to form an election government in the sitting Chief Justice’s leadership.

Issuing a statement on behalf of the parties, CPN-Maoist said that the demonstration will be staged at Shanti Batika at 4 pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, talking to journalists in Biratnagar, chairperson of CPN-Maoist, Baidya claimed that the political parties are dancing in the tune of foreigners. He also added that the move of the political parties weakened the democratic principles.
