Visit Lumbini should aim at Chinese, Indian tourists
BHAIRAHAWA: Private sector of Rupandehi has been encouraged by the decision of the State No. 5 government to celebrate Visit Lumbini 2076 to promote Lumbini as a major tourism destination in the country.
Private sector representatives have said that the state government should take initiative to promote Lumbini in India and China in cooperation with the federal government.
They said that the Visit Lumbini 2076 would be a success if more and more tourists could be attracted from India and China.
Due to the improved economic condition of its people, China has become one of the major countries to generate high spending outbound tourists.
Therefore, promotion in China is crucial to bring more Chinese tourists, said Ram Kumar Sharma, former president of Sidharthanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
More Indian tourists can be lured in Lumbini by organising promotional activities in India, said Bishnu Sharma, president of State 5 chapter of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA). indian tourist lumbini
“We are ready to join hands with the state government to make the Visit Lumbini 2076 a success,” Sharma said.
The Visit Lumbini 2076 is not only the programme of the state government; rather, it is the programme of all residents of all districts of the state, therefore, people of all walk of life from the state should support to make it a success, said Chandra Prakash Shrestha, president of Sidhartha Hotel Association.
Shrestha said that in addition to promotional activities in domestic and foreign level, infrastructures such as roads, hotels and restaurants should also be developed in cooperation with state government to make the campaign a success.
He stressed on developing good road networks to join Lumbini with other adjoining places related to Gautam Buddha including Tilaruakot, Kudan, Devdaha and Ramgram.
“We are planning to make attractive packages to the tourists focusing the Visit Lumbini 2076 aiming to attract large number of tourists and increase the time of their stay in Lumbini area,” said Mithun Man Shrestha, vice president of Sidhartha Hotel Association.
Saroj Kumar Bhattarai, the member secretary of Lumbini Development Trust, has said that declaration of Visit Lumbini has added energy to the trust to intensify its role in promotion and development of Lumbini.
