Villagers’ Clash against Cow slaughter, police nabs two

Lalitpur, March 26: A clash broke out among the locals of Godamchaur VDC-8 in the northern belt of the district over killing of cow. Lal Bahadur Ghising and Chhedar Bhote of the VDC had slaughtered a cow on Sunday night, leading to a furor in the locality.

Locals and some religious organizations, irate after the incident, protested against the cow slaughter and resorted to arson, setting ablaze the huts of Ghising and Bhote. They also vandalized the pigsties at Godamchaur and Harisiddhi in protest.

The police intervention further fueled the clash among locals on Monday.

Meanwhile, the police arrested the alleged cow killers Bhote and Ghising along with the cow’s head.

Police Inspector Lava Dev Bista at Metropolis Police Sector, Jawalakhel said a case was filed against the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the Rastriya Prajatrantra Party-Nepal has condemned the cow slaughter, reasoning the cow is an animal revered as Goddess Laxmi by the Hindu people.

The incident would incite people against religious tolerance, social harmony and comity and national unity, the party said, demanding the government to take rigorous action against the perpetrators. RSS
