Villagers attack NEA team deployed for curbing electricity theft
A team deployed to curb the theft of electricity by hooking on power supply has been attacked by a the locals at Jabdi of Piparpati in Bara today. The team comprising of the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force were deployed to arrest 10 persons accused of electricity thefts in the village. They were attacked by the villagers when they were returning empty handed from the village as the accused have already fled. One police has been injured by the attack.
Meanwhile, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Lahan Branch, arrested nine people for their involvement in electricity theft by hooking on power supply lines and also seized the different tools used in hooking, today.
A team of the NEA, Lahan, found them involved in the theft in course of a monitoring carried out in coordination with the Armed Police Force, Base-Camp Lahan.
