Village meet turns nasty after Mukhiya’s son guns down opposition
SAPTARI: One person died while another has sustained serious injuries due to gunfire that took place during a scuffle at a village meeting at Sarswar VDC, Saptari district, last night.
Tarakanta Yadav and his son Deependra Yadav of Sarswar VDC-6 opened fire during a meeting of village elders over the issue of consumer committee at 8 p.m. on Thursday, fatally injuring 40-year-old Indra Narayan Yadav who died on way to the hospital. He is the local leader of the Nepali Congress.
Krishna Kumar Yadav, local leader of the UCPN (Maoist), has been seriously injured by gunshot. He is undergoing treatment at a nursing home in Lahan.
The shooters have been apprehended and they have admitted to firing shots, according to police. RSS
