Us ambassador calls on PM, discusses current politics

KATHMANDU:  US Ambassador to Nepal Scott H. DeLisi called on Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Monday and discussed recent political developments and the relations between the two countries.

In response to Ambassador DeLisi’s queries on recent political developments in Nepal, Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai said it was really a misfortune to Nepal to have the constitution drafting process disrupted in the middle, and the CA dissolved.

The Prime Minister, however, said the fresh election to the Constituent Assembly was announced due to compulsory situation.

Stating that opting for fresh election was the best alternative to democracy, he said that he was committed to moving ahead taking all parties into confidence.

“Nepal would always follow the path of peace, constitution and democracy,” said the Prime Minister and assured the US representative that foreign investment was safe in Nepal.

Talking to media persons following the meeting, Ambassador DeLisi said he was confident that the parties would seek solution to the political deadlock through consensus.

The US government was always ready to help Nepal for peace, development and democracy, he added. RSS
