UML’s Oli says government creating pretext to prolong tenure
KATHMANDU: CPN UML leader KP Sharma Oli claimed that the current government would not promulgate constitution but was hatching conspiracy to retain power for indefinite time.
Speaking at a function organised to mark the 33rd Memorial Day of Ratna Kumar Bantawa here today, he said, “Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai are pretending that they are for constitution writing but do not really like to write constitution.”
“They have been plotting conspiracies to remain in power for the indefinite time by dissolving the Constituent Assembly,” he accused.
He opined that the UML was not for federating state on the basis of ethnicity because federalism on the basis of ethnicity would lead to a compulsion to make more than 100 states which is not possible.
On the occasion, Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Subash Nembang, said pressure on the political parties needs to be mounted to bring constitution on time.
He said there was no alternative to concluding peace and constitution writing.
The senior leaders of political parties have no time for further discussion in the meeting of Business Advisory Committee, he said, adding, it is time to make final decision.
On the occasion, the leaders assured initiation to declare Ratna Kumar Bantawa a martyr.
Bantawa, who was born in 2008 BS in Ilam, was killed by police in 2035 BS in while waging struggle against party-less Panchayat system. RSS
