TU gears up for convocation, its in Poush
Some 54,406 students from various stream including humanities and social sciences, education, science and technology, forestry, included in the grace list would participate in the convocation.
Information about this was shared by TU registrar Dr Chandra Mani Poudel at the annual meeting of the TU Assembly on Thursday.
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai pointed out the need to make the university education scientific and reformed to meet the international demand as per the changed context.
Also the Chancellor of the TU, PM Dr Bhattarai said even the open and distance learning should be included in the higher level to enhance the people’s access to higher education.
Stride in the education was essential for the socio-economic transformation and prosperity, stressed the Prime Minister.
On the occasion, Education Minister Dina Nath Sharma said the government should provide further economic support to make the TU economically strong.
TU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Hira Bahadur Maharjan said the efforts were on to make the TU a best place of higher study. Even a teaching hospital would be set up on the premises of the TU, he added.
He complained that the TU was facing acute financial crunch.
There are some 360,000 students pursuing higher education under the TU. RSS
