Thapa Acting CoAS
KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri handed over the leadership of Nepal Army to Chief of General Staff Purna Chandra Thapa amidst a special ceremony organized at Nepal Army Headquarters on Thursday.
CoAS Chhetri handed over the responsibility as he is taking a leave as per the tradition for a month before retirement.
Chhetri, who had embarked on military service on the post of second lieutenant, has continuously served for forty years.
On July 26, the meeting of the Council of Ministers had decided to award the post of Acting CoAS to Thapa to be effective from tomorrow.
After getting the responsibility, Acting CoAS Thapa informed that digitization in the office was launched to reduce the use of papers to modernize the NA services.
Meanwhile, Thapa handed over the responsibility of the direction committee formed for the implementation of Kathmandu-Tarai/Madhes fast track to Chief of General Staff Hemant Raj Kunwar.
