Ten Nepalese organization conduct blood donation program

Arjun Mainali, NEW YORK: Ten community based Nepalese organizations conducted blood donation cum free health check up camp recently.

75 volunteers donated blood in the camp while 55 persons got a free health check up at the event participated by Sindhu, USA Welfare Society, Thakali Sewa Samiti, NRN-USA, Mustang Kidung, Kirant Rai Society of America, International Literature Society, Gyal Sumdo Sewa Sanstha, Association of Nepalese Tera in America, Association of Nepalese Physician in America, and America Nepal Friendship Society.

Deputy Chief of Nepal’s permanent resident mission in New York, Shiv Lamsal, and Minister Councillor Amrit Rai jointly handed over certificate of appreciation to the donors at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Financial Director of American Red Cross Thomas Cane appreciated the efforts of the Nepalese community in organizing the event and claimed that blood donated in the program will save lives of 225 individuals.

President of Blood donors of America and 104 times blood donor Arjun Prasad Mainali appreciated the contribution of the donors and the participating organizations and individuals in the humanitarian event.

He also announced plans to donate 50 thousand rupees to Chitwan Red Cross to boost its effort to organize blood donation camp in the district and ten thousand each to health personals Katak Bahadur Mahat and Dr Jeevan Adhikari of Kalikot and Salayan for saving two mothers who have died due to higher loss of blood during pregnancy.

The event was assisted by Bhupendra Wagle, Dr Rekha Hamal, Dr. Umesh Paudel, Dr Binod Shah, by availing themselves for providing free health checkups to visiting individuals.

Similarly, Dr Tara Niraula, Dr Rekha Hamal, Arjun Mainali, Banslal Tamang, Parita Rajbhandari, Satendra Shaha, Dhagyalpo Punel, Poonam Kafle, Mani Wangdel, Chepak Dorji, Omkar Gauchan assisted the event through active participiation to organize it.
