Task force formed to find Bam’s murderer’s
KATHMANDU: The Police Headquarters has formed a five-member team under the coordination of Additional Inspector General of Police Kuber Singh Rana to investigate into the murder of Supreme Court Justice Rana Babahur Bam.
Other members of the probe team are-Deputy Inspector General of Police at Central Investigation Bureau, Upedra Kant Aryal, Senior Superintendent of Police at Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Devendra Upreti, Senior Superintendent of Police at Terrorism Directorate Subodh Ghimire, and Senior Superintendent of Police at Metropolitan Police Sector, Lalitpur Rajendra Man Shrestha.
Justice Bam, his bodyguard Sub Inspector of Police Mahesh Giri, and a person in the same vehicle Ram Giri were shot on by two unidentified persons on a pulser motorcycle at Shankhamul of Lalitpur on Thursday morning.
Seriously injured Justice Bam breathed his last at 1:30pm while being treated at Norvic Hospital while others are undergoing treatment.
The Police Headquarters has asked the probe team to carry out thorough investigation, find who is behind the attack, and why was the attack made with the background of incident, and submit report as soon as possible.
Justice Bam was gunned while driving back from the Bangalamukhi Temple of Patan.
A small Chinese pistol was recovered from the incident site while a motorcycle with the number plate Ba 43 Pa 7209 found deserted at a bridge near Subidhanagar, the police said.
The police have begun investigation by launching a manhunt with the set up of check points at various places in the capital, it is said. RSS
