Tamang bags Tenjing-Hilary Everest Marathon title

SOLUKHUMBU: Phurba Tamang has bagged the title of the tenth Tenjing-Hilary Everest Marathon. Tamang bagged the title by completing the distance in 3 hours, 41 minutes and 31 seconds.

Kumar Rajbhandari and Sudip Kulung stood second and third by completing the distance in 3 hours, 54 minutes and 51 seconds and 4 hours and 54 seconds respectively.

Earlier, Kulung had won the titles of the eighth and ninth Tenjing-Hilary Everest Marathon Competition.

The organizer said that 42.2 kilometers distance was fixed from Base camp of Mt Everest to Namchhe.

Along with the title, Tamang has bagged 1,000 US dollars while Rajbhandari and Kulung bagged 500 US dollars and 300 US dollars, respectively.

Similarly, Tambekal Bel won the title of Half Marathon of 21 kilometers. He completed the distance in 2 hours, 55 minutes and 39 seconds.

Thirpo Naphu of Australia and Shekhar Gayatri of India stood second and third by completing the distance in 3 hours, 44 minutes and 41 seconds and 3 hours, 57 minutes and 39 seconds respectively.

The first, second and third winners of the Half Marathon received 500 US dollars, 300 US dollars and 200 US dollars respectively. RSS
