SLC Exam-2012 kicks off

BHAKTAPUR: The School Leaving Certificate (SLC) Examinations which is considered the ‘iron gate’ for the students for graduation from school began at 8 a.m. across the country today.

According to the Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE), Sano Thimi, 445,974 students are sitting for the SLC examination under the regular stream and 82,283 under the exempted category this year.

The OCE has urged all sides to help conduct the examinations smoothly and in a dignified manner.

Manang district has the smallest number of candidates appearing in the SLC exams this year while Kathmandu district has the largest number of candidates. Manag has 105 candidates and Kathmandu 34,014 candidates.

The OCE has established altogether 1,748 exam centres throughout the country, including 422 exam centres in the Eastern Region, 509 in the Central Region, 373 in the Western Region, 269 in the Mid-west Region and 175 in the Far-west Region.

Similarly, 56,000 people have been mobilized for conducting the exam. A monitoring team each led by one joint secretary at the Ministry of Education has been assigned to all the 14 Zones for monitoring the conduction of examinations from this year.

The SLC exam starts from 8 am to 11 am every day. The exam will conclude on March 29. RSS
