Shrestha abductors slapped 15 years jail-term

BHARATPUR : The District Court, Chitwan, on Wednesday sentenced the abductors of then Executive Director of the BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Dr. Bhaktaman Shrestha.
The court handed down a prison sentence of 15 years on Rohit Paliwal, the main accused, and 13 years each to Sunil Shrestha, Nabin Chhetri and Badri Dhungana.

Similarly, the court has sentenced two others accused in the case and who are on the run to 15 and 13 years in jail respectively. They are Bhimsen Pandit and Subba Tamang.

Gautam Yonzan and Rajendra Pandit, who are also absconding, have been acquitted. The district court also fined Rs. 11 million from the accused in return of the 3.626 kilogrammes of gold that they had taken as ransom for Shrestha’s release.

A single bench of District Court judge Bholanath Chaulagain handed down this decision. RSS
