Seven arrested for luring girl for ‘sacrifice’ in India
KATHMANDU: A gang has been busted and the members arrested for allegedly taking a girl for ‘sacrifice’ following tantric rituals in neighbouring India. Seven members of the gang were arrested from Kathmandu and Biratnagar.
Those arrested by the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu are Krishna Tamang,26, of Nawalparasi, Umesh Shah, 40, and Umesh Majhai,35, of Saptari, Dil Kumari Budha magar,24, of Dang, Dilip Podar,51, of Morang, 23-year-old Prem Maya Tamang of Dhading and Ranjit Kumar Chaudhary, 37, of Sunsari. According information shared at a press meet here today, the girl was lured to work as model in a music video and was being taken towards India when the arrest was made.
The police was alerted by the girl herself, who grew suspicious about the activities of her alleged abductors. Based on timely information police were able to arrest members of a gang involved in human trafficking, Senior Superintendent of Police Uttam Raj Subedi said.
Further investigation into the incident is underway, while the accused have been remanded to judicial custody for necessary action.
