SC issues stay order on Sthapit case

KATHMANDU:
The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order in the name of the government, directing the latter to stay the decision of terminating Commissioner of Kathmandu Valley Town Development Authority Keshab Sthapit.
A single bench of Justice Girishchandra Lal on Friday issued an order to that end. Similarly, the court has directed the defendants to appear before the court along with the written reply on the same within the next 15 days.
The Council of Ministers on January 17 decided to replace Mr Sthapit with Yogeshwor Krishna Parajuli. Following the government decision, Mr Sthapit on January 21 filed a writ petition at the court, demanding that the decision be scrapped as he was appointed for five years and the decision was ‘illegal’.
