Salyan murder case – accused confesses to killing
SALYAN: A breakthrough was made in the Salyan murder case after the accused Sanjaya Bharati of Chhayan VDC – 9 of the district confessed to killing four persons with a pole used in tethering buffaloes.
Bharati, who was arrested on Wednesday, made his confession during police interrogation of killing four including three persons of a single house on Tuesday at Rana Gaun of Chhayan VDC – 9.
In a statement made to the police, the murder-accused recounted the horrific night during which he was in an inebriated condition and killed the four persons one by one using the pole.
On Tuesday night, Ramesh Khan Thakuri’s 23 – year – old wife Sita, three – year – old daughter Pabitra, one – year – old Sabita and Sita’s sister Gita Giri, 18, from Sharada Municipality – 10 were murdered. Gita had been a visitor at the house when the crime took place.
Bharati, who was drunk at the time, was involved in minor altercation with the deceased on Tuesday night, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bhupendra Gharti Magar of the District Police Office. After the altercation, Bharati left for his house lying 100 meters away from the incident site. Later he came back with the pole and indiscriminately attacked the four.
“He first attacked Sita, then her sister and then the two minors one after another, it was revealed in course of police investigation”, DSP Gharti Magar said. The reason behind the murder is yet to be disclosed.
