Salyan Jeep accident kills 6, injures 10

SALYAN, March 30: As many as six persons died and 10 others were seriously injured in a jeep accident near Chuneta cliff in Salyan district today.


Identities of the deceased have not been ascertained yet. Police have suspected that all deceased might have been from Shreenagar Bazaar.


Out of the deceased, three are women and the remaining are male, said police.


The accident took place when a jeep (Ga 1 Cha 2770) heading towards Khairabang temple in Salyan district taking pilgrims from Shreenagar in the district fell 200 meters off the road.


The jeep had more than 20 passengers. Some passengers have saved their lives by jumping from the roof of the jeep.


Police said it has been difficult to carry out rescue as the incident site in a difficult place. Police teams from the Area Police Office, Shreenagar and the District Police office, Salyan have started rescuing the injured passengers.


Out of the injured, condition of three is critical. Primary treatment of all the injured is going on at Kantipur Community Hospital, Shreenagar.


Police added that problems have been created to take the injured to other places for further treatment due to lack of ambulances. RSS
