Ruling parties agree on identity based ethnic federalism
KATHMANDU: Ruling parties UCPN (Maoist) and Joint Democratic Madheshi Front (JDMF) have agreed on federalism that will reflect ethnic identity.
During a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence on Saturday morning, both parties agreed for not accepting a constitution that does not provisions for such a federalism and have also agreed to make their way ahead in the direction.
They have also agreed to amend the constitution to resolve the citizenship row. Along with that they have also agreed to move ahead by making common stance on contentious issues seen in the constitution writing process.
Along the JDMF leaders have also asked the government to allocated budget for opening recruitments in the NA. The meeting was participated by senior Maoist leaders including Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal and from the JDMF Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, Mahanta Thakur, Mahendra Yadav, Rajkishore Yadav and Rajendra Mahato were present at the meeting.
