RJP leaders put heads together for organisaitonal strengthening
KATHMANDU: Leaders of Rastriya Janata Party (RJP), Nepal was formed by integrating several six Madhesh-centric parties are putting heads together to find ways for the party’s organizational strengthening.
The party constituted on April 21, 2017 seems to be affected by so many internal causes including the lack of well-planned vision and agenda and lack of culture of cooperation among the leaders from the village to central- level. In this period of two years, some dissenting factors announced to quit the party to form several factions.
A meeting of the party office bearers has been underway since Sunday. Earlier, the party announced its unity general convention for April 20-22. Later it was postponed, citing the lack of preparations. The office bearers’ meeting is expected to announce a new schedule of the (unity) general convention.
But it is said in the ongoing meeting, leaders have come up with differing views whether to hold the general convention. According to an information shared by one of the party office bearers with the RSS, party leaders Sharat Singh Bhandari, Mahantha Thakur and Rajendra Mahato are in favour of the idea of unity convention while Raj Kishore Yadav does not entertain the idea as he advocates in favour of regular general convention. Mahendra RayYadav and Anil Jha are also in favour of the regular general convention.
In today’s session, party presidium coordinator Bhandari appeared with a five-point agenda which notes about a process of the unity general convention and fixation of its date. The party has come up with two proposals as alternatives in regard with the general convention: one is either to hold the regular general convention from village to district level within the next four months or organize the party unity general convention within the next one to one and half months.
Bhandari’s proposal incorporates the issues concerning contemporary politics and party’s future course of action and of review of the state and local governments, focusing on how to make the party’s future activities more effective.
The party has already exchanged letters in two rounds for the unification with the Federal Socialist Forum. It had withdrawn the support given to the incumbent government some months ago. A total of 19 lawmakers ( 17 in the House of Representatives and two in the National Assembly) represent the party in the Federal Parliament. The then Tarai Madhes Democratic Party, Sadbhawana Party, Nepal Sadbhawana Party led by Anil Jha, Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party led by Mahendra Ray Yadav, Madheshi Janadhikar Forum led by Raj Kishore Yadav and Rastriya Madhesh Samajbadi Party led by Sharat Singh Bhandari had united to form the RJP Nepal.
