Rana suggests Bhattarai to opt for referendum on federalism

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Pashupati Shumser Rana has suggested Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai to clear legal hurdles to hold elections to the Constituent Assembly.

After meeting the Prime Minister at the latter’s residence Baluwatar on Sunday, Chairman Rana said he suggested the Prime Minister to forge broader national consensus and remove legal obstacles through the President and amend laws necessary for the election.

Similarly, he told the Prime Minister that referendum was the best option to decide about the naming of provinces because the parties could not stop debating on this.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister said he would not stand in the way to a national consensus and was ready to step down for it, according to leader Rana.

In another note, leader Rana told the Prime Minister that it was an autocratic move of the government to demolish the compound wall of his house at Lazimpat yesterday.

RPP Chairman Rana also urged the PM to provide security for him. RSS
