Rampant rural road construction triggers landslides
KAWASOTI: Occurrence of landslide has been resulted from the construction of Daldale-Dhauwadi road section in a rampant manner, said the District Technical Office, Nawalparasi.
The haphazard extraction of rocks from 12 to 13.6-km without leveling the sharp inclination of the road triggered landslides, according to the Office.
A joint inspection carried out by Chief District Engineer Mahesh Chandra Neupane and technicians of SPDE, PDE and Construction Company on June 27 had reached the conclusion.
The road construction works are going on in two sections (one from 5.225 kms to 11.7 kms and another from 11.7 kms to 19.35 kms) of the Daldale-Dhaubadi road section.
The contract of the road construction was awarded to Mahalaxmi Pacific JV Kathmandu.
The joint technical team inspected the road after landslide brought the transport service into disruption since June 21.
The District Technical office, Nawalparasi wrote a letter to the road construction company taking up the issue of road structure and quality when landslide occurred on the onset of the rainy season.
The inspection was made by the joint team following the mounting public pressure to clear the debris left by landslide on the road. RSS
