Public transportation strike paralyses movement
KATHMANDU: General passengers are facing trouble today after the public transport in the Kathmandu Valley was brought to a standstill.
Public vehicles are not being operated due to indefinite transport strike enforced by National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs that comes to effect from today.
The transport entrepreneurs came up with the strike putting forward demands that include constitution of separate transport ministry and granting status of industry to transport enterprises.
General public and students of different schools and colleges are compelled to walk on foot in the absence of public transport.
Federation Treasurer Saroj Sitaula said nationwide transport strike was called in response to the government’s apathy to heed the demands of transport entrepreneurs.
Talks that held between government and Federation last night ended without any conclusions and it is going to take place again after 2.00 pm today, he told media.
However, they have made no obstruction to private vehicles, he added.
Meanwhile, the transport strike has also affected Dhaulagiri zone. RSS
