Pro-democratic Sanskrit professors on warpath

KATHMANDU: The Pro-Democracy University Teachers Association, Nepal has announced the first phase of its protest programmes, alleging that the Nepal Sanskrit University did not implement the agreements reached with it in the past.

As per the protest programmes announced by the Association, university teachers will teach with black bands strapped on their arms on April 23, hold a candle-lit demonstration in front of the Balmeeki Campus in the capital on April 25 and organize a pen-down strike on April 27.

Association general secretary Dr. Chintamani Pokharel alleged that the University had not fulfilled the past understandings as the university’s office-bearers providing suitable place to the pro-democracy university teachers. He charged the university leadership of running the university in a unilateral fashion.

Pokharel also accused the university administration of making appointments, transfers and promotions on the basis of one’s political affiliations. RSS
