Prez, PM discuss Colonel Lama’s arrest in UK
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai have held the meeting this morning to discuss upon the current political impasse among others. During the meeting at President Dr Yadav’s official residence Shital Niwas, the head of the state and executive head also dwelt upon the issue of arrest of Colonel Kumar Lama in the UK. Emerging out from the meeting, Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai informed the journalists that their meeting was focused on the issues of arrest of Colonel Lama, filling the vacant post of commissioners in Election Commission and other constitutional bodies, among others.
He further said that he informed President Dr Yadav about his commitment to facilitate the efforts of the parties to forge consensus by January 9.
“President expressed the concern over the arrest of Colonel Lama in the UK,” he said, adding, “we discussed on the formation of transitional justice mechanisms by forging consensus among the parties as earliest.”
