Press Union agitated demanding action upon Journo killers
The Nepal Press Union (NPU) has held a rally here today protesting against the Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai attempts to protect the accused of Dailekh-based journalist Dekendra Thapa’s murder.
The journalists also demanded stern action against the accused in the killing of Thapa.
A protest rally that started from the NPU office marched to the south gate to Singha Durbar and turned into a protest assembly. Addressing the assembly, Union’s president Kiran Pokharel said that the statement made by the Prime Minister in a way to protecting the culprits of journalist Thapa’s murderers was saddening and shameful.
Senior journalist Harihar Birahi, Dr. Kedar Narsingh KC, advisor of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Poshan KC and NPU general secretary Shiva Lamsal vociferously criticized the prime minister’s statement aimed at obstructing the legal process for taking action against the killers of journalist Thapa.
