President will take action after July 22: Mahat
KATHMANDU: Leader of the Nepali Congress Dr Ram Sharan Mahat has said President Dr Ram Baran Yadav will issue summons to form national consensus government by July 22.
Speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters Club at its office in the capital, Mahat said that the President was presently in wait and see mode and was awaiting government to clear all legal hurdles to hold CA elections by the July 22 deadline put by the Election Commission.
” The President is waiting for the Prime Minister to garner consensus. If he fails to do so by July 22, than the President will take action and call on political parties to form a national consensus government by dissolving the incumbent government,” Mahat said at the program presided by the Club’s President Rishi Dhamala
The UCPN-Maoist has not fully internalized the peaceful constitutional system, he said, adding that the recent political document of the Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had advocated for the people’s government with the use of force.
Chief of the CPN-UML Publicity Department, Pradip Gyawali, has said the national consensus was eluding because of Prime Minister Bhattarai’s craving to stick to power.
However, Politburo Member of the UCPN-Maoist, Haribol Gajurel said the prime Minister would not step down unless the parties forged consensus at a time there was neither parliament nor the constituent assembly.
