Preparations complete for Maha Shivaratri festival
The PADT, with the support of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Nepal Police and volunteers from different organizations, cleaned the Bagmati River on Friday while decorations on temple surroundings are proceeding in full swing.
“All preparations beside decorations have been completed and the stage is almost set for the festival,” informed Treasurer of PADT Treasurer Narottam Baidhya.
According to reports, Baidhya three routes into Pashupatinath temple have been prepared to ease the entrance of devotees, along with a separate priority line for those who pay Rs 1,000. Among the planned routes, one enters from Gaushala, passing through Bankali, another passes from Chabahil through Mitrapark, the third from Sifal.
Arrangements have been made in such a way that no devotee will be prevented from visiting the temple, even during the visit of the head of state, PADT officials said. On the day of Shivaratri , the Nepal Army will shower flower petals on the Pashupatinath area from a helicopter. Similarly, like in previous years, a temporary health camp will be set up while Nepal Telecom will erect a separate tower in the area to facilitate communication. The festival is likely to be observed by nearly a million visitors. Many tourists from India and other parts of the globe have already arrived.
PADT officials informed that around 5,200 police personnel will be mobilized in the area to maintain security while 65 close circuit cameras will be in place for surveillance during the festival.
