Police seizes red sandalwood

KATHMANDU:
Police confiscated the prohibited red sandalwood from Lamosanghu of sindhuplachowk district this morning.
A total of 425 kilograms of red sandalwood was being taken to Khasa of Tibet by concealing in haystack loaded on a truck (Ba 2 Kha 8723).
Police said that the red sandalwood was seized while carrying out an inspection of the truck.
According to Superintendent of Police Kamalraj Giri at the Armed Border Police Force, Lamosanghu, the truck driver, Purna Tamang, 19, and another person Sonam Tamang, 17, of Karthali-4 in Sindhupalchowk have been arrested in this connection.
Kumar Kashi urged them to take the red sandalwood to Brahabise providing monetary inducement, according to the statement of the truck driver.
The confiscated red sandalwood has been handed over to the District Forest Office, said police.
