PM urges to pause regrouping at Shaktikhor

N24, KATHMANDU: Ongoing regrouping of the Maoist combatants was paused at the Shaktikhor cantonment of the Maoist combatants on Tuesday following heated exchange between the some Maoist combatants and Army Integration Special Committee’s (AISC) technical team.

The technical team was asked to hold the regrouping task by PM Dr Baburam Bhattarai considering the gravity of the situation. Though the commanders had agreed for continuing the regrouping process, some cambatants had protested against the latest number of combatants to be integrated.

The agitating combatants have claimed that the agreed numbers of combatants to be integrated were against the agreement.

In Monday’s meeting of cantonment commanders, party leaders and Nepal Army officials had decided to resolve the remaining issues in Kathmandu but conditions turned ugly today after some Maoist combatants stood up against the agreement.

As per the recent AISC decision, the combatants, who rechoose for integration,  will be handed over to the Nepal Army by April 12.
