PM Dr Bhattarai greeted with black flags
Students close to various unions have waved black flags to the Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai in Baglung on Wednesday. The students have staged protest against the Prime Minister by waving the black flags when he was there to inaugurate the building of Dhaulagiri Zonal Hospital. The student unions including Nepal Student Union, ANNFSU and ANNFSU (R) have staged the protest against the Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai accussing him for being an obstacle in the consensus building efforts.
9 students were injured following the clashes with the Police. The Police have intervened against the protest program of the student unions as soon as they staged the black flags to the PM. Harihar Sharma, Joklal Budha, Balkrishna Sharma, Purna Acharya, Hemraj Sharma, Basant Sharma from NSU, Narayan Paudel of ANNFSU and Rim Roka of ANNFSU (R) were injured after Police baton-charged the protestors. The enraged students set a vehicle owned by the irrigation office on fire. The unions have condemned the Police suppression against their protest program.
Opposition boycotts PM’s program
Meanwhile, the opposition parties have also boycotted the program attended by the Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai. Though the organizer had invited all the parties in the program, 9 opposition parties active in the districts including Congress, UML, Rastriya Janamorcha boycotted the program.
There is no meaning to attend the program of the Prime Minister who has pushed the country towards the crisis by not tendering his resignation, said Congress district Chairperson Prakash Paudel.
