Paswan says govt. obstructing peace and constitution writing

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Dalit Janajati Party and lawmaker, Bishwendra Paswan, claimed the current government itself was the problem for the peace and constitution writing process.

Addressing the First National Assembly of the Dalit Women’s Rights Forum (DWRF), today, he said, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai should resign immediately and pave the way for the peace and constitution writing process for he failed to take forward the constitution writing and concluding the peace process.

Paswan stressed on the need for guaranteeing the rights of the Dalits, indigenous nationalities, Muslims, women, and backward classes in the new constitution, saying the constitution writing process was shadowed due to the Unified CPN (Maoist) and some Madhes based parties in power.

Similarly, Chairperson of the Dalit Women’s Rights Forum, Radhadevi Shrestha, stressed on unity among the women to fight for their rights and expressed her commitment to continue the fight to ensuring women’s rights in the new constitution. RSS
