Parties get additional 7 days to recommend PM candidate

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Thursday night has extended a deadline for 7 days to the political parties to come up with a consensus candidate of the Prime Minister. Following the meeting with the leaders of major four political forces- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) – President Dr Yadav has extended deadline after the leaders, who failed to meet deadline, requested the President on this regard. Talking with BBC Nepali service, Press Advisor of the President Rajendra Dahal confirmed the extension of deadline.

Stepping out from the Shital Niwas, UML Chairperson Jhalanath Khanal informed media-persons that they have requested President to extend the deadline. “Since we couldn’t build consensus within seven days as provided by the President so we made request to him for an extension,” he said vowing to forge consensus by the extended deadline.
