Parties depart for holding internal discussions, decisive talks later
KATHMANDU: Meeting of senior leaders of lead political parties was called off today without sitting for informal talks as decided earlier. The meeting was called off citing need for internal discussions within party.
The meeting called at Prime Minister’s residence was called off within some minutes after lead politicians came there. Sources claimed that parties have decided for decisive talks after finalizing their party’s bottom line on the stance.
With two days remaining short before the Constituent Assembly is dissolved, Parties are yet to garner consensus on a scores of vital issues including state restructuring.
Among other issues, nomenclature, number of federal states, and boundaries of the federal states is one of the mostly contended issues among political parties. While Maoist-Morcha have remained adamant on resolving federal issues now, NC-UML are adamant on suspending the issue now and resolving it through the transitional parliament.
