Parties agree on Constitutional Court for five years

KATHMANDU: After confrontation on the issue major political parties including the Madheshi Front have agreed to include the provision of Constitutional Court for five years.

The CC will be responsible to interpret laws and adjudicate disputes between federal and local governments informed Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba while exiting the meet on Sunday night at the CA hall in Baneshwor.

“We have reached an agreement to establish the constitutional court for five-year term,” said Deuba while informing the the parties have denied to re-appoint judges.

Likewise, the political parties reached closer to agreement on the issue of citizenship provision, Deuba informed.

UML Chairman Khanal said that discussions were also held on state restructuring one forms of governance and expressed optimism to resolve them in Monday’s meeting.

As per the latest deadline, political parties will have to resolve all disputed issues by Monday.
