Oppositions reject Prachanda’s invitation

KATHMANDU:
The main oppositions- Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML- declined the meeting of the top parties called by the UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday evening. The meeting was called to discuss the issues including budget and political way-out.
Maoists’ Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said,” Leaders of the opposition parties said they can not attend the meeting to discuss only on the budget.”
The party Chairman had called the meeting to discuss different issues but the opposition parties rejected the meeting, saying only budget was the matter of discussion.
How non-political behavior it was, Sapkota wondered.
Chairman Dahal’s repeated request was rebuffed by the NC and UML leaders, he said, adding that NC President Sushil Koirala and UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal rejected the request at the last moment.
On the other hand, NC leader Arjun Narsing KC claimed that the UCPN-Maoist had invited them to discuss only on budget.
Leader KC informed Maoist Chairman Dahal that his party could attend the meeting if they were to discuss on the overall issues.
