Oli says referendum necessary to resolve federalism

BIRATNAGAR: Senior leader of the CPN (UML) K P Sharma Oli has said that the debate over federalism should be resolved through referendum.

Speaking at a news conference organized by the Koshi Zonal Coordinating Committee of the CPN (UML) here today, the UML leader Oli said that referendum was the best option to decide the fate of federalism as the debate over the issue was sharply divided.

Oli said, “Personally I am not against federalism. But, referendum is the good option if it challenges national unity and territorial integrity and creates violent activities in the country.”

He said present government will be changed if it failed to deliver peace and constitution to people adding that the Bhattarai-led government was becoming weaker due to Maoist party’s internal feud.

Leader Oli blamed the present government for being the bedrock of corrupt politicians. RSS
