Nepal’s historical holy festivals Gai Jatra observed
KATHMANDU: Gai Jatra, cow festival, was observed on Friday by the Newar community in Nepal to commemorate the death of loved ones during the year.
This festival is also used to express one’s dissatisfaction with the way of life, society, political as well as economic system in a different form such as satire.
This occasion is also utilized by the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) people to highlight their rights.
