Nepalese population in US nears 60 thousand

KATHMANDU: Population of Nepalese diasporas residing in the United States of America has neared sixty thousand count. A census project involving the US Census department and Association of Nepalese Youths in America concluded that there are around 59,490 people in the United States who described themselves as Nepali in the 2010 Census.

While conceding that the figures were not exact owing to various discrepancies, nonetheless a press release issued by ANA claimed that it was the first official data on Nepalese population in America.

The census has also pointed out that New York, Washington DC, Dallas, Boston and San Franssico are the top five cities inhabited by Nepalese.
