Nepal urges Prez for trashing budget ordinance

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of CPN UML Madhav Kumar Nepal has urged the President Ram Baran Yadav for not endorsing the budget ordinance prepared by the incumbent caretaker government.

Nepal made such a request to the President during a meeting between the duo at the President’s place on Wednesday.

“There is not other alternative than to national consensus,” Nepal said adding “incumbent caretaker government does not have legal and constitutional grounds to bring budget” to journalist after the meeting.

He suggested PM Bhattarai for assisting in garnering consensus by stepping down from the post.

His meeting comes at a time when opposition parties are urging the President for not endorsing the budget ordinance and the government is bent on bringing full budget at any cost.
