Nepal president to visit India next week
During his week-long visit, Yadav will meet Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other top officials.
Yadav will visit India at the invitation of Benaras Hindu University, where he will be conferred with the “Doctorate of Letters” title in the presence of his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee and University Chancellor Karan Singh.
The programme, being organised to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of BHU’s founder Madan Mohan Malaviya, will also be attended by the Indian Prime Minister and top Indian academicians.
This will be the third visit by the Nepalese President to India after he assumed office some four years ago. He will be accompanied by his daughter Anu Yadav and a 20-member delegation.
A Cabinet meeting on Friday approved a list of around 20 people who will accompany the President during the India visit, said a government spokesperson in Kathmandu.
The President’s state’s visit comes at a time when the political parties in Nepal are undecided over nominating a consensus prime ministerial candidate to replace incumbent Baburam Bhattarai, who has refused to step down.
The fifth extended deadline issued by the President to political parties to nominate the new Prime Minister expires on Saturday.
