Nepal National Cyber Security Monitoring Centre established

KATHMANDU: Nepal government has established a national cyber security monitoring centre at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota inaugurated the centre at a function held here today.

The centre aims to make close observation of the cyber attacks and its probabilities to increase the effectiveness of the cyber security initiatives. The establishment of the centre will check the rising cyber risk and help address issues concerning cyber security in an effective manner, said the Ministry spokesperson Rishiram Tiwari.

The Ministry also targets to set up regional chapters of the centre based on need and rationale.

The Centre would monitor possible security challenge and risk in sensitive information and communication infrastructures as well as monitor important sites, web applications and services.

Similarly, the National Response Group would direct the bodies concerned along with suggestion for the necessary security arrangement if cyber security-related incidents take place or given the possibility of such incident in course of monitoring.
