Nepal Government urges the local authorities to provide additional relief to storm survivors

KATHMANDU: Nepal Government has urged the State and local governments to work in an integrated manner to provide additional relief to the survivors of the storm in Kailali and Kanchanpur. A meeting of stakeholders chaired by Acting Prime Minister Iswar Pokharel at Singha Durbar today discussed about the damage caused to life and property in the two districts and about relief and support measures.
Receiving a memorandum submitting by MPs from the two districts, Acting Prime Minister Pokharel said the data of the damage is being collected and the government would take further decision after full details are received, according to his Secretariat. He also told the MPs that arrangement had been made for free treatment of the injured and that the local administration was coordinating with the state and local levels.
Discussion was also held on details of the losses suffered so far, rescue and relief provided by the government, state and local governments in the meeting.
Present at the meeting were acting Secretary, Home Secretary, Defense Secretary, the Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and other high-ranking officials. MPs present on the occasion were Jhapat Bahadur Rawal, Niru Devi Pal, Nar Bahadur Dhami, Laxmi Chaudhary, Niradevi Jairu and Bina Devi Budathoki, among others.
