Nepal concedes 45 runs defeat to Netherlands
KATHMANDU: Nepal conceded a 45 runs defeat to Netherlands in theplayoff semi-final under the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers underway in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Nepal’s weak performance led to failure to chase the target of 190 runs placed by Netherlands, being restricted only to only 144 runs all out in 44.4 overs.
Its performance was affected after five players failed to hit even double digit runs, and both players Shakti Gauchan and Rohit Poudel out for zero run.
Openers Gyanendra Malla and Anil Sah were limited to only four and eight runs respectively, while Aarif Shekh and Lalit Rajbamshi to only five and two runs respectively.
Other players Sompal Kami made 36 runs, while while Dipendra Singh Airee 25 and Paras Khadka 22. Likewise, Karan KC contributed 13 runs, and Sandip Lamichhane 14.
Earlier, elected to bat first after winning the toss, Netherlands made 189 runs in the stipulated 50 overs at the loss of eight wickets.
As for Nepal, Sompal Kami took four wickets, while Lalit Narayan Rajbamshi and Sandip Lamichhane two wickets each. Likewise, Shakti Gauchan claimed one wicket.
