Nepal Army chief Thapa off to US
KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa on Monday left Kathmandu for the United States of America at the invitation of the United Nations.
During the visit, Army Chief Thapa is scheduled to take part in the first Women, Peace and Security CHODS Network Meeting and Chiefs of Defence Conference scheduled for July 10.
Chief of General Staff Sharad Kumar Giri reached Tribhuvan International Airport to see off Army Chief Thapa, according to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of Nepal Army.
Thapa will also hold meetings with high ranking military officials of the US. He is scheduled to return home on July 17.
Chief of General Staff Giri has been assigned to take the role of Army Staff Thapa in his absence, according to a statement issued by the Directorate.
