Nepal-African film festival kicks off
KATHMANDU: Minister for Information and Communications Raj Kishor Yadav inaugurated the Nepal Africa Film Festival amidst a ceremony today.
The three-day festival that kicked off at the Russian Culture Center Kamaladi will screen various films from the African countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, it is learnt.
The films selected for the festival are focused on the geographical, social, political and cultural aspects of the respective countries.
The festival organized by the College of Journalism and Mass Communication ( CJMC) in collaboration with the Nepal Fashion Home is expected to prove to be a milestone for informing the Nepali viewers, said the organizers.
On the occasion, Minister Yadav said films are the effective means for reflecting the entire structure of the society. Films could play an important role in bringing positive changes in the society, he added.
“The world is becoming a global village due to developing information technology”, said the Information Minister.
Festival Organising Committee director and CJMC Principal Dr Manju Mishra said the objective of the festival is to familiarize the Nepali viewers about African films.
Vice Chancellor of Purbanchal University Maheshworman Shrestha and Consular of Nepal to South Africa Pradeep Kumar Shrestha expressed hope that the festival would be a venue for cultural exchanges between Nepal and the African countries. RSS
