NEFIN’s Lekhi says he is ‘stunned’ with CA’s dissolution

KATHMANDU: Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NeFIN) has expressed serious concern on the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly and termed that the CA was dissolved ‘conspiratorially’.

Organizing a press conference in the capital today, Chairman of NeFIN Raj Kumar Lekhi said he was stunned by the dissolution of the CA, adding that the country was pushed back for years due to the CA’s dissolution.

Lekhi said, “Time has come for the people for further struggle to attain rights and justice. The country’s economic development has been pushed back. Leading parties of the CA should be responsible for this.”

He also said that the lawmakers were also morally responsible for dissolution of the CA and blamed the major parties for making lawmakers feeble and rubberstamps.

Saying that the golden opportunity of May 27 to institutionalize the achievements made so far, Lekhi said NeFIN has concluded that this day was a ‘black day’ for the people.

NeFIN concluded that constitution was not drafted due to double standards of some leaders who were effortful to strangulate federalism though they seemed to favor federalism outwardly.

Saying that people should indentify who is anti-federalist and against the people’s rights, Lekhi added there was no option but to go for fresh elections after the dissolution of the CA. He was of the opinion that all-side consensus was needed for any decision regarding the country. RSS
