NEFIN’s boss retorts at lead parties

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN), Raj Kumar Lekhi retorted back at political parties for criticizing the three day band called by NEFIN.

He accused the lead parties of wasting four years without making any headway and claimed that it was not substantial for these parties to accuse NEFIN of hindering the constitution writing process.

”In these four years, it has been clear that the political parties delayed (the constitution-drafting) intentionally and now intend to promulgate a constitution taking it out from their pocket,” he said in a statement issued on Monday.

On second days of its band, NEFIN cadres vandalized, assaulted and torched vehicles across the nation and continued attacks on press personals.

In his statement Lekhi further said that the “Nepal Federation of Indigenous Assembly is ready to make an arrangement for taking all 601 members of the Constituent Assembly back and forth for the CA meetings even amid the ongoing agitation.”

He accused the lead parties of not heeding to the demands of the Tharuhat Struggle Committee and warned that they would continue agitation unless the government addressed their demands.

His statement came after holding two rounds of talks with the government negotiations with the government.
