NCP Chair Dahal assures of amendment to Media Council Bill
KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has assured that the Media Council Bill would be revised.
In his address to a press meet organised by the Press Organisation, Chitwan here today, the chair of the major ruling party admitted that the latest bills introduced by the government indicated a lack of evident homework.
As he said, it seems the need of revising the bill and he hopes the government has now been aware of it. He pledged enough preparations in the future while bringing these types of bills.
In his response to journalists’ query about the government leadership, the former Prime Minister said, “The issue is not a new one and we are committed to moving ahead on the basis of pace of cooperation and consensus we have at this time.”
In a different context, he said the government would support in the cricket stadium construction project based in his constituency here.
He apprised the programme that during the preparation of the government policy and programme, he had met with the Prime Minister and Finance Minister with a request to incorporate such projects in the new policies and programmes as he believed that only funds raising campaign would not be enough to realise it and a base needed to be created for the government assistance.
It may be noted the construction of Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium has presently remained halted after locals tore down its boundary wall some two weeks ago. The Dhurmus Suntali Foundation has owned up the responsibility of implementing the project.
