NC, UML not ready to bargain on 11 state model

KATHMANDU: The three party meeting called for resolving contentions seen in their recent agreement to federalise the nation into 11 provinces failed to bear fruits.

Lead parties were forced to hold discussions on their proposed model after the coalition partner Joint Democratic Madheshi Front warned to resign from the government and protest against it.

The meeting remained inconclusive after the Congress and UML denied to review the earlier understanding on 11 provinces.

Though the Maoists have shown flexibility to review the 11- state model, Congress and UML have warned it for not acting against the agreement.

In the meeting, they have warned that if the agreement on the federal model is broken, than they too will break away from other agreements, which were made as part of the package deal.

However the meeting concluded with an understanding to hold talks with the JDMF on the endorsing the 11 state model informed Congress leader Ram Chandra Paudel.
